Hounddog’s Pizza

Pizza from Hound Dog's Pizza in Columbus, Ohio

I have driven by this place a lot, and I hadn’t given It a chance until earlier this year. One of the reasons I didn’t check this spot out is because it loomed super divey to me. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not above going to a dive to eat, but this place just looked too dingy for my taste initially. What made me go in to check this place out we’re the reviews on yelp.

I walked into the restaurant, and I almost wanted to leave empty-handed. It was dark and dimly lit and full of grungy rocker type folks, not that that was an issue. I decided to what the heck when in Rome. So instead of making my order to go, I got it for there. I ordered a pepperoni pizza with basil and light garlic.

The pizza came out, and it looked perfect. I mean really good. One of my favorite parts of the pizza is the crust, and I can tell you that this place does not disappoint when. It comes to that. There is a great deal of that fluffy, chewy goodness. I’m not a sweet pizza sauce fan, but I didn’t know what to expect before taking my first bite. When I bit into it, that savory flavor hit my tongue, the crispy pinch of salt crust soon followed. The toppings hit next, and that crunchy pepperoni, garlic, and basil to balance it out and put everything over the top. The finale of the chewy crust sealed the deal for me.

Wauw, this looks really yummy! Can I substitute the lettuce and tomatoes with bacon? And maybe instead of the light dressing use mayonnaise?
